Jamkhandi's Patwardhan Palace

Patwardhan palace is the icon of patwardhan dynasty who ruled jamkhandi state for one and half century. Jamkhandi state was founded by shrimant gopalrao patwardhan in 1811 and Jamhandi was the capital of the state. Previously the state was under british rule and in 1948 it merged with india. The name of the state was derived from jambukeshwar temple. Because the temple was in deep forest. The palace consists the huge area, many buildings with many lakes and temple, but the major part of the royal palace is now destroyed and only some ruins are available in the place. On another part of palace a royal public school is running now. In the patwardhan palace area there are some building in good condition, rameshwar and ganesh two ancient temples are good to visit with ramteerha lake. it is better to visit ramateertha which is in good condition rather than palace near school because it is ruined on closed for visitors.
